Turning Feelings into Forecasts: Helping Children Understand Emotions Through Play
Emotional learning begins early, and Project ABC continues to create opportunities for families to explore meaningful ways of supporting children's development. A recent weather-themed playgroup brought together families, caregivers, and author Kadian James for an engaging experience focused on emotional awareness and connection.
Using weather as a simple and relatable metaphor, children learned how feelings can change throughout the day—and how to recognize and express those emotions in healthy ways.
Through storytelling, hands-on activities, and family participation, the event encouraged open conversations about emotions while providing practical tools that parents can use at home. The program reflects Project ABC's ongoing commitment to supporting social-emotional growth and strengthening family relationships throughout the community.
